Refresher courses allow people who have previously completed a 14 hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course to refresh their knowledge and skills. For people who are Accredited YMHFAiders, refresher courses offer an opportunity to extend their accreditation for a further three years.

The content of each refresher course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

Refresher courses are available for: Youth MHFA

What is the format?
This is a 4-hour course delivered face-to-face. The online course is available 5-hrs two 2.5-hrs

Why attend a YMHFA course?
Evaluations consistently show that MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help

Who can attend the course?
Any adult who has completed a 14-hour YMHFA course or an Accredited YMHFAider can attend, to do the refresher course after 3 years. They will then gain an extra 3-years upskill qualification or Accreditation.

Registering for the Refresher YMHFA Course.
Please e-mail us a copy of your original YMHFA certificate to verify that you are suitable for the Refresher course.
If you don't have access to your certificate, we can contact MHFA for verification of YMHFA course attendance
