    Event description

Join us for an afternoon recital of classical music for piano and alto saxophone performed by Daisy Ou and David Bevan, exciting young musicians visiting from their London base.

The Zonta Club of North Sydney is proud to be hosting their performance and grateful for their support in a fundraising afternoon in aid of the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia, an Australian charity developed with Zonta to provide women in remote regions of developing countries with Clean Birth Kits. The Kits are simple and effective in infection reduction and childbirth care where there is no access to health facilities. Over 2.6 million Kits have been produced in Australia, and 10,000 Birth attendants trained in five countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Daisy and David will present a program spanning 200 years of musical history from Bach and Mendelssohn to new music by living composers Andy Scott and Jenni Watson. The program includes pieces by Debussy and Chopin and is sure to inspire lovers of fine music.

Daisy Ou is an 2014 graduate of Hornsby Girls High School who has built an impressive musical career, completing studies at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama and performing to acclaim on a range of stages in the UK, US and Europe. She's been praised as a pianist of "exceptional talent" (The Daily Telegraph) and is visiting Australia to catch up with family and friends and support Zonta's fundraising for Clean Birth Kits.

David Bevan is newly graduated from the Guildhall School and is a talented multi-instrumentalist and keen multi-genre collaborator. He has conducted ensembles, taught and performed in numerous UK venues and will perform both solo on alto saxophone and in duet with Daisy on piano.

As well as refreshing the senses through music, the afternoon will include a delicious afternoon tea, freshly prepared by Zonta Club members, and the opportunity to enter a raffle of two beautifully handmade quilts to add further to the funds raised for Clean Birth Kits. Donations will be gratefully accepted and can be made via this website or on the day.
