Reimagining how the ACT Assembly might work
Description
Hosted in partnership with the Canberra Alliance for Participatory Democracy as part 1 of the Reimagining Governance for the ACT public event series
Join us for a rare and timely conversation with some of the ACT’s most influential political leaders as we reflect on 35 years of self‑government — and explore what needs to change for the future.
Panelists:
Michael Moore
Gary Humphries
Caroline le Couteur
Kate Carnell (if available)
Others tbc
MC: Genevieve Jacobs
Together, our panel will explore:
What is the history of self government in the ACT?
What was the original vision for a self‑governing ACT?
How has that vision played out?
What challenges have emerged?
What reforms are needed now — and into the future?
Audience ideas from the event will be collected and used as seed proposals for a public Pol.is poll running 16–24 June. The results will feed directly into the community workshop on 28 June.
This is a chance to shape the next chapter of ACT governance.
A small donation would be appreciated to cover printing, stationery and the occasional room hire as we are a small unfunded community group.
