Wed, 4 Nov, 5pm - 6pm AEDT

Description

Virtual reality (VR) is increasingly being used within occupational therapy to support physical, cognitive and social rehabilitation, particularly among older adults. Occupational therapists play a critical role in determining whether VR is safe, appropriate and beneficial for individual clients and how it can be incorporated into person-centred treatment plans.

We invite practising occupational therapists with experience using VR to participate in a one-hour online focus group. We want to learn how you use VR, what influences your clinical decisions and what helps or hinders its integration into everyday practice.

During the discussion, participants will be invited to share their experiences and perspectives on:

  • Current applications of VR in occupational therapy

  • How VR is incorporated into assessment and treatment planning

  • Benefits for clients and therapeutic practice

  • Barriers, risks and ethical considerations

  • Client suitability and professional judgement

  • Training, resources and organisational support

  • Regulatory considerations and emerging practice needs

Your practical insights will contribute to a better understanding of how VR can be responsibly, safely and effectively integrated into occupational therapy practice and person-centred care.

The focus group will be conducted online via Zoom and facilitated by Dr Moira Scerri and Dr Sancheeta Pugalia from the University of Technology Sydney.

Register now to contribute your experience and help inform the future use of VR in occupational therapy.
