Responding to escalation and trauma-informed de-escalation (Collie)
Description
Whether you are a social worker, case manager, counsellor, or support worker, it is common to work with people experiencing high levels of distress, frustration, or escalation.
This practical workshop focuses on recognising escalation in real time and responding safely, respectfully, and effectively. It explores how escalation often builds over time and how responses are shaped by underlying distress, trauma, and system pressures, rather than being isolated behaviours.
Participants will be introduced to a clear, trauma-informed approach to de-escalation, with practical strategies that can be applied immediately in frontline settings. The session emphasises maintaining safety, supporting regulation, and working within role boundaries.
