Rethink Ageing: Ageism Awareness
Ageism affects all of us, often in ways we do not even notice.
From the language we use to the assumptions we make about health, abilities and community life, age‑based stereotypes shape opportunities and experiences across generations. This engaging one‑hour information session with Jane Henriette from Council on the Ageing (COTA) explores what ageism is, how it shows up in everyday settings, and the real impact it has on older Tasmanians and on society.
Participants will gain practical insights into how we can challenge ageist thinking, shift attitudes and create communities where people of all ages are valued and respected. If you are interested in building a more inclusive, age-friendly community, this session will give you the understanding and the tools to be part of the change.
COTA (Council on the Ageing) Tasmania is the peak body representing older Tasmanians, working to promote positive ageing, challenge ageism and support inclusive, connected communities across the state.
This free Tuesday talk for seniors is part of Kingborough Council's Positive Ageing program.
