Revitalize Music Festival

It’s a celebration of all things organic and natural - in a magical Western Southland setting, under the Takitimu mountains at Mangapiri Downs Organic stud Farm, a pioneering organic stud sheep, cattle and forestry farm.

The Revitalize Festival swings into action in early January each year at Mangapiri Downs, which is near Blackmount, between Tuatapere to the south and Manapouri to the north. The 469-hectare farm spans out over Red Tussock hill country, with Shire hair sheep that don’t need shearing, and the postcard-perfect hairy Tufty cattle (polled Highland cattle). Tim Gow and his family have been farming organically here since the 1980s.

You can come for one day or stay for all three, and there’s great camping, it’s free! There’s plenty of other accommodation nearby as well.

During the lazy, hazy festival days you can join  an eclectic bunch of workshops, farm EV displays, rides & talks, farming/regenerative talks & walks, guitar tuning, natural health & comedy workshops, meditation, healing yoga & reiki energies, bouncy castle & family fun areas including family yoga. Take easy walks through sabbatical fallowing pastures, and of course lots of amazing gorgeous animals for photo opportunities.  Dance to the music or sit in a chair and enjoy the sounds of top musicians from Southland & around NZ!

For time out, walk to a quiet pond under the trees or  take a farm walk up Butterfly Hill with magnificent views over the farm and out to the Takitimu and Fiordland mountains.

A huge decommissioned shearing shed & covered yards are available if the weather changes. Bands literally play from the board where sheep were shorn - it’s a good old fashioned party down on the farm, supporting up-and-coming kiwi artists together with some really big names.

The festival comes alive on 2nd January beginning with the Open Mic or anyone that's keen—whether they are emerging comedians, entertainers or musicians. This is followed by(MC)  Craig Smith playing his own soothing Rock songs, before the amazing Julian Temple Band hits the stage!

The 3rd January concert keeps the fun going kicking off at Midday on main outside stage includes 8.30pm Rhythmonyx, 7.30  Sam Cullen,  6pm  Kramit, 5pm Original Copy (Saelyn Guyton & John), 4pm  Brad MacClure, 3 pm Beekeepin' Pete, on Shed stage 2.30 - 3.30 Craig Smith (aka The Wonky Donkey Man),   Outside Stage 2pm Ruby Fusion, 1pm Jared Smith  on outside stage Synergy at 12 pm energising the crowd movement and sound      Dunedin sound healing at 11pm in shed and   (Times written in as playing in reverse order)
