Looking for something to keep you warm now the weather has turned? Have we got the event for you - now with extra warm bodies! (Not a cult.)

Ruckus Poetry Slam is an open mic competition where anybody can sign up to perform on the night and the rules don't matter. It's not a cult.

We've been doing this for 13 years and people keep coming and getting actual permanent tattoos of our symbology. Definitely not a cult.

THIS MONTH if you BRING A FRIEND then THEY GET IN FOR FREE!!! It's like those free personality tests the nice people on the street offer you. Not a cult.

FAQs

Do I have to perform?
Heck no, we're not that cruel! Come along and just watch!

Does my poem have to fit a theme?
No, our "themes" for each month are very loose and some poets use them as writing prompts. But we don't curate or censor so bring along any kind of original work!

Can I buy tickets on the door?
Yes!

Is the venue accessible?
Yes! Our new venue Mirrorball Ministries is accessible for all audience, and for performers - the stage has 4-5 stairs up to it, but we can easily adjust and you can perform in front of the stage if stairs are an obstacle. What if I miss out on a sign-up spot?
We really do our best to make sure we get a good assortment of poets and over the years we've found the most fair way is for it to be a first-in-best-dressed for signup, so we advise getting there close to 6:30pm when the doors open to have a better chance of getting in! Just get one ticket and show up with a second person. Ideally it is a NEW friend who has never been to a Ruckus before. How are we enforcing this? We're not. It's an honour system. We're not a cult.
