RUMIMATE - A Fringe Trial Show

Event description

Ahead of their debut season at Sydney Fringe, Claire and Matthew will be performing a special ONE-NIGHT-ONLY event of their brand-new comedy show. It’s quirky, witty, and all together a little bit silly, just like Matthew and Claire. Some come on down and enjoy the party!

The overthought of an afterthought. After a wild night-in, two mates riddled with hangover anxiety try to remember their night... did they do something embarrassing? Possibly mean or even... criminal?

The two mates wake after a wild night-in to a wrecked apartment and a Cop-Dad visit in an hour. It's the usual post-party mess; abandoned red plastic cups, food scraps and unknowable smears on the floor, a mysterious (potentially) dead body in the bathtub, plus guests that are awkwardly lingering around. Hungover, they try to piece together events from the previous night through the frenzied process of cleaning - drunken karaoke, a gameshow, defeating their enemies Piss Boy and Gooch Man, and therapy sessions with their geeky psychologist. Tensions rise as they manipulate each other to evade responsibility. Can they clear the mess and solve the dead body mystery before Cop-Dad arrives?

“Rumimate” is a comedic amalgamation of standup, songs and sketches that captures the vulnerabilities and anxieties of your early 20s. It celebrates failures and victories... but mainly the failures. This show is for those who have been told to just "Stop thinking about it", it's ok hun, we can't not think about it too x

This show is created and performed by Matternal Clairinet, two actors with a deep love of comedy and storytelling. Claire is a published playwright with many acting credits under her belt and Matthew is an incredibly talented actor with an extensive repertoire of cabarets, musicals and comedy shows. "Rumimate" is a love letter to the theatre and to their anxieties.

**Volunteer Audience Participation**. This show has a reoccurring bit with an audience member - The Judge - whoever sits in this seat (it will have a wig and gavel on it), will play the role of The Judge and will be called upon during the show to pass judgments.
