Rust Dyeing on Paper & Fabric
Event description
Rusting and rust dyeing is a unique method of Surface Decoration on paper creating an archival like collection of papers, conveying a sense of weathered, rustic and decayed like process to your work.
We will produce a collection of samplers on all sorts of textured papers from watercolour papers to unique cotton rag as well as a small canvas if time permits. We will also explore rust printing and a little bit of eco bundling with rusted tools to create prints on silks and linens for future stitch work.
Using rust dye techniques and a variety of layering techniques, you will create paper surfaces that can be applied to your own unique art journey and artworks. Perfect for artist book makers, collage, stitch, artworks on paper; the possibilities are endless.
We will provide all dye solutions and equipment, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own special paper collection to dye and embellish as well. The tutor will provide each participant with an equipment/material list so they can bring their own stash as well.
Afternoon Tea will also be provided.
