About our Instructor
Cynthia Vandermark Hoag began her Tai Chi journey in 1994 at Trinity College, seeking a way to continue her passion for artistic movement after major life changes. With a background in ballet, Tai Chi became the ideal practice for her, leading to a lifelong dedication under Master Malee Khow and other esteemed teachers. Cynthia achieved Certified National Judge status in 2012 and competed in the 1st World Tai Chi Championships in Chengdu, China, in 2014, using the Yang Style 24 Form and the 32 Movement Competition Sword form. This pivotal experience inspired her to co-found Foundations Tai Chi with her husband, George, which later evolved into Dragon Rising Wellness to encompass additional modalities like Reiki and Pranic Healing.

Through detailed explanations and live demonstrations, you'll have the chance to truly experience and integrate these transformative techniques.

QiGong Session: After a brief rejuvenating break, we'll transition into a guided QiGong session lasting approximately 45 minutes.

Meditation Practice: We will guide you through a meditation practice featuring breathwork and a nature-centered theme. Rooted in the essence of Mother Earth, this meditation offers a space for deep reflection and connection, helping you discover inner peace and tranquility. Following the meditation, we will gather for a reflective session, allowing you to share your insights and reflections. This segment nurtures a communal spirit and helps embed the benefits of the practice into your daily life.

Gratitude Circle: Our workshop will conclude with a gratitude circle, accompanied by seasonal tea, as we appreciate the time spent together in this sacred and harmonious space. This final ritual reinforces the sense of community, leaving you feeling uplifted and connected.
In the event of inclement weather, we will move this workshop indoors.
What to Wear:
- Comfortable Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Think yoga pants, loose shirts, or even a relaxed tunic.
- Layered Options: We will be outside so please bring a light jacket or sweater that you can remove as you warm up.
- Non-Slip Footwear: While it is preferred you are barefoot or with socks, if that is not comfortable for you please wear shoes that are flexible and comfortable with a good grip.
What to Bring:
- Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is important, so bring a water bottle.
- Yoga Mat or Towel: We will be sitting on the ground at times, so bring a yoga mat or small blanket for seated and meditative practice.
- Notebook or Journal: If you like to take notes on what you’ve learned or reflect on your practice, a small notebook can be handy.
