Event description

As part of SaCSA's Project Consultation Roadshow 2025, we’re inviting Hospitality and Aged Care stakeholders in Sydney to join a face-to-face workshop to review and shape the draft training products for the Culinary Skills for Aged Care Food Service project.

Service and Creative Skills Australia (SaCSA) has engaged extensively with stakeholders across industry, VET and unions to explore the challenges and opportunities within the current qualifications. Utilising these insights, we worked closely with our Technical Committee to develop the draft training products to ensure they meet the evolving needs of industry.

We’re now seeking feedback to confirm the draft training products are fit-for-purpose and support the development of a skilled, adaptable and sustainable workforce.

Agenda

During the workshop, participants will explore key details of the draft training products, including:

  • Four new units of competency

  • A new skillset

  • A specialisation for commercial cookery

Topics covered in the new units of competency include:

  • Preparing modified-texture foods

  • Understanding nutrition for aging Australians

  • Planning menus for complex dietary requirements

  • Monitoring and tracking residents’ food intake

Who should attend

This workshop will involve discussion of technical qualification elements and is best suited to Hospitality and Aged Care professionals, VET educators, and training specialists involved in curriculum design or delivery.

  • Registered Training Organisations (both TAFE and private)

  • State Training Authorities

  • ITABs, IRCs, IAGs etc.

  • Peak Bodies, Associations and Unions

  • Industry professionals (employers, employees, business owners)

By contributing your expertise at these workshops, you’ll help strengthen the quality and relevance of national training products, supporting a skilled and future-ready workforce for the sector.
