Event description

This 3-hour workshop will give you the tools and the creative space to craft something unique from pre-loved, salvaged materials. You will have the opportunity to display your creations in the Kingborough Salvaged Art Exhibition, Friday 22nd - 24th September.

Participants will have time to warm up and play with the materials provided, then design a piece of wearable art (jewellery, accessories etc.) or a small sculpture, to spend the remainder of the class creating.

We can supply salvaged materials from our pre-loved supplies including beads, threads, ribbons, paint, buttons and fabric, but you are encouraged to also bring meaningful items that you would like to include in your art piece.

Some examples of the techniques on offer:

applique (creating a picture with fabric) soft sculpture techniques free-motion quilting wrapping fabric painting patchwork sashiko or boro embroidery or anything else you want to try; we’ll do our best to facilitate it!
