Lost Skills: Sashiko mending
Event description
About the Lost Skills sessions
REthink Nillumbik is hosting a series of free workshops at the Nillumbik Repair Cafe. At these sessions, you can learn fantastic new skills to use at home, and also help Nillumbik reduce its waste and transition to a circular economy. A circular economy is one that repairs, reuses and repurposes objects rather than throwing them away.
September Lost Skills: Sashiko mending
At the September Lost Skills session, local sewist Sue Arnold (aka Miss Wattle) will introduce you to the versatile art of sashiko, a Japanese technique for patching holes and tears in clothing and textiles. Learn the basics of sashiko and how the technique can be used to mend and embellish clothes and textiles.
Bookings are essential so we know how many people to cater for.
When is it?
Saturday 13 September, from 10.30am to 11.30pm.
Who is it for?
All Lost Skills sessions are free to attend and open to everyone in Nillumbik. This session is great for anyone wanting to learn a handy new skill, save money by doing their own DIY, or support a circular economy by giving objects a new lease on life.
