Prepare to be scared!

The Curse of Cracroft is upon us… help us to defeat the devilish ghosts and ghouls who haunt the ancient grounds…

Complete our Halloween Scare-venger Hunt to become the hero and restore Cracroft to a safe haven once again. Keep your eyes peeled for halloween themed characters who will help or hinder you, petrify and panic you, trick or treat you, along your spooky quest!

Friday Fright Night!

Friday 30th October

8.30pm

Recommended Ages 16+

If you are looking for a good old poop your pants scare-venger hunt (recommended for ages 16yrs +) then join the after dark search alongside freakish fiends at 8.30pm followed by a selection of NZ short horror films and popcorn.

This immersive horror experience will test your courage as you walk through the darkness seeking the clues to lift the Curse of Cracroft.

Glow necklaces available to purchase on site if you would like to let our spooks know that you would like to be scared, but still be able to sleep at night...

Saturday Spook Session

3.30pm

Ages 0+

The family friendly scare-venger heros are invited at 3.30pm where you will vanquish witches and dastardly devils followed by a disco to celebrate your heroism ending at 5pm sharp so that you can go trick or treating with your whānau and friends.

Our trained and experienced actors will give your children an exciting adventure while being gentle with those who are a little less adventurous in the realms of Halloween.

Saturday Scare!

Saturday 31st October

7.30pm

Recommended Ages 16+

If you are looking for a good old poop your pants scare-venger hunt (recommended for ages 16yrs +) then join the dusk to dark session alongside freakish fiends at 7.30pm followed by a selection of NZ short horror films and popcorn.

This immersive horror experience will test your courage as you walk through the darkness seeking the clues to lift the Curse of Cracroft

Glow necklaces available to purchase on site if you would like to let our spooks know that you would like to be scared, but still be able to sleep at night...

Correct scare-venger entries will go in the draw for some spooktacular prizes
Prizes for best dressed
Refreshments, sausage sizzle and snacks available to purchase throughout the event
This is an alcohol free event
The actors are experienced volunteers from the Luminaires performing alumni
Explore the horror trail as you search for the clues
Live scare actors throughout the trail
Immersive horror environments and sets
Atmospheric lighting and sound effects
Multiple themed scare zones
Professional makeup and costumes
Unpredictable scares (age appropriate)
Bring your own flashlight (mandatory for night events)
Street parking is limited. Arrive early, catch a bus, or consider carpooling!

These events are the night before Halloween AND on Halloween itself, Friday 31st October at Cracroft Guide Centre, 151 Cashmere Road, Christchurch

Due to the nature of the event, there will be NO PARKING onsite, unless by prior arrangement.

Please wear sturdy footwear, bring a torch and pen.

Please note:

There is no parking onsite - please allow time to find street parking
Those aged under 14 must be accompanied by a suitable adult
Wear sturdy footwear - there is a lot of uneven ground
Bring a torch (or phone with torch) - especially for those staying after dark
Bring a pen or pencil to write the answers to the scavenger hunt
This is an alcohol-free event. Anyone intoxicated will be asked to leave immediately
Eftpos and cash sales are available for purchase of treats and sausage sizzle
There will be a tip jar at the concession stand to enable you to tip our volunteer spooky actors
Door sales are available at the gate, so bring your friends
No entry will be permitted onto the grounds until the start time
We encourage you to arrive at the beginning of your session to really make the most of the evening

Luminaires Charitable Trust gives young people supported access to the performing arts, with an emphasis on seeking and supporting those who otherwise may not have the opportunity. Luminaires does this by providing possibilities of participation and skill development producing affordable high quality experiences to a youth audience. Confidence, clarity of communication and presentation is enhanced as they work in a team towards a combined goal. Compassion and appreciation for others is cultivated. Self discipline is strengthened. The social interaction of young people within this setting improves significantly as they form the bonds of friendship and discover like-minded peers. A huge benefit to their ongoing mental health and self worth, as they foster a strong sense of identity and self confidence. Luminaires operates according to a policy of inclusivity, we actively seek and sponsor a selection of participants who could not usually be involved with a learning opportunity like this due to financial hardship and struggle with their transportation needs. Our goal is to find ways to fully embrace the greater whanau for all involved, building community enrichment among families of differing backgrounds in activities where they work together as equals.
