School Holiday Program - Japanese Writing/Calligraphy/Crafts

Embrace your creativity this autumn while discovering the rich and fascinating aspects of Japanese culture.

During the school holidays in April, as we transition into autumn, we experience increased rainfall compared to the summer months. This change in weather may present challenges when planning activities for your children.

This workshop would provide an opportunity for participants to fully engage in and learn about Japanese culture while enjoying an indoor setting.
Pencil writing, calligraphy, Japanese language quiz from books and crafts - all in one for two hours full of fun! You will receive a set of Japanese cartoon/character colouring sheets and a pocket size hiragana/katakana chart at the end of workshop. 

Maiko Howell, the master of Japanese traditional calligraphy, who has been running children's calligraphy class in throughout Eastern Japan since 2017 in conjunction with her motherhood, will guide your child/ren at the workshop.  


-Date & time: Wednesday 16 and Saturday 23 April, starting at 10am on both days.

-Location : KIN Creative Space, 20 Beach Road, Kingston Beach TAS 7050.

-Ages 7- 12 (Grade 1 - 6) only

-Bookings required. Siblings of participants who are under the target age are welcome to attend at no cost, but we ask that they are accompanied by adults during the workshop.

-Previous / current Japanese language learning/speaking environment is not necessary but definitely a plus as we write Japanese sentences and use Japanese for context. 

-No materials needed.

-The venue is located at the rear of Kingston Beach Hall.  Parking is not available on site but there is parking nearby the Salty Dog and down on the beach - please remember not to use the Atlas Barbell private parking area.

硬筆・毛筆・日本語のクイズ・工作。盛りだくさんの２時間です！帰りに日本のキャラクターの塗り絵セットをプレゼントします。

2017年から子ども書道教室を運営しつつ、大人向けワークショップや出張レッスンなどもしているハウエル麻衣子が、今年からタスマニア州のホバート近郊で小中学生対象の書道クラスをひらいております。

ワークショップ開催日は４月１６日水曜日と２３日の土曜日、両日とも１０時開始です。

事前予約制、両日ご参加ももちろん大歓迎ですが、定員に達し次第予約受付を終了させていただきます。

ご参加に際して日本語の学習環境や日本語能力は問いません。また、ご参加者本人のごきょうだいで対象年齢に満たない方のご参加も歓迎いたしますが、その場合はごきょうだいへ付き添いができる大人の方とご参加いただくようお願いいたします。

最寄り駐車場 : 会場への専用駐車場はありませんが、キングストンビーチの公共駐車場が近くにあるのでそちらを是非ご利用いただくようお願いいたします。

会場 ：Kingston Beach Hall の左側にある小道に入っていただくとKINと書いてある看板があります。その看板横の扉からレッスンの部屋へ入っていただく形となります。
