Scottsdale Reserve, NSW - General Guided Visit - Friday 27 October 2023
Event description
A short distance from Canberra, on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, is a hidden treasure called Scottsdale Reserve. Bush Heritage is delighted to offer this guided trip (being offered on two different days), giving supporters and new people to the organisation, a chance to see this fascinating property.
Scottsdale is on the traditional lands of the Ngambri and Ngarigo people. It protects some of Australia’s most threatened temperate ecosystems and an incredibly diverse range of species. Its boundaries stretch from high rugged hill tops to sweeping valley floors and majestic river frontage. To experience the different landscapes, and to showcase our work, this trip requires travelling in 4WD vehicles. There will be regular opportunities to get out and explore on foot, while reserve staff share their love and knowledge of this landscape. You will hear about some of the innovative projects and see firsthand the recovery from the 2019/2020 devastating Summer bush fires, that swept through approximately 73% of the property. At this time of year, we anticipate flowers to be blooming and lots of activity from the birds and other animals that, call Scottsdale home.
