Event description

Join Annie Mullen-Walsh and dive into the world of ekphrastic poems, responding to exhibitions hosted at Platform Arts.

Ekphrastic poetry allows us to create using inspiration from the art around us and delve into new themes we may not have explored before. Annie will help build participants’ understanding of key literary techniques including metaphor, imagery, repetition and juxtaposition; allowing & encouraging them to use these in their own work as well as analyse these in others’ work.

No prior poetry knowledge is needed, just an open mind! This is fun workshop designed to challenge and encourage creative and curious secondary school students.
The workshop will go for an hour and half, and include a 20 minute intermission break with tea and light snacks provided.

$5 ticket covers snack, tea and all supplies.

Please note, this session is for secondary school students. A later workshop on 21 September is being held for adults.

This workshop aligns with the current Victorian Curriculum for English and is designed to support Year 9/10 and VCE English and Literature studies.
