Sewing Basics I: Intro to Home Sewing Machines, with SCRAP!

In this class, students will learn the foundational skills to begin operating and sewing on a commercial home sewing machine. We’ll review essential sewing tools and how to use them, discuss different fabric types, learn how to identify the grainlines and the bias, and learn the anatomy and core functions of a sewing machine. By the end of the class, students will know how to thread a machine and know the stitches and seam treatments needed to complete the project in Sewing Basics 2: The Basic Tote Bag.

Join us to develop new skills, meet other sewists just starting out, and find your sewing machine sea legs!

All tools and materials provided. No experience needed. Ages 14+.
