Sewing Basics II: Construction and Patterns - The Tote! With SCRAP!

This workshop is for folks to build on their ability to operate a home sewing machine, learn new skills, and apply them to their first project, a custom tote bag!

We'll cover:

• Translating pattern measurements to fabric
• Working with a pattern block
• Cutting fabric accurately
• A variety of seam treatments and construction methods (including french seams!)
• The POWER of PRESSING!

And combine all of that into a complete project: your custom tote bag!

By the end of our workshop, students will know the foundational pattern reading and construction skills to take their sewing to the next level. All students will receive a token for one free pattern from SCRAP.

Lead by sewing nerd Kate Burck with SCRAP’s variety of studio sewing machine models. (A great chance to try different manufactures and styles before you invest in your own.)

Join us to develop new skills, meet other sewists just starting out, and find your sewing machine sea legs!

Prerequisite: Sewing Basics I or equivalent knowledge. (how to thread a home sewing machine, wind and load a bobbin, and basic straight and zig-zag stitches)

All tools and materials provided | Ages 16+ (parents must purchase for their children)
Students are welcome to bring their own sewing machines.
