    Enjoy the peaceful beach and bush surrounds of Bingie at Spring Indigo Textiles Studio, as you learn to create colourful dyed pieces using Shibori techniques, dipping processes, indigo and other dyes. Shibori is the art of folding, pleating, binding, stitching & clamping fabric to create a resist when dyeing. Dipping techniques can be used to create layered ombre effects.

    This workshop is led by textile artist, Alison Bogg.

    In this workshop, you will be guided to:

    Learn how to use different coloured dyes and pre-coloured fabric in combination with traditional Shibori techniques & an indigo dye vat.

    Discover ways to experiment with dipping processes that can achieve layered ombre effects using indigo dye.

    Create a uniquely dyed silk scarf or larger fabric piece to customise, a clothing/other item and small samples.

    No experience required - suitable for beginners or those who have already learnt fundamental Shibori/indigo dyeing techniques. (Adult 18 years +)



    You will take home your completed: silk scarf or larger fabric piece to customise (supplied) + a clothing/other item (you supply eg. cotton T shirt/tote bag) + small samples.

    This workshop includes all materials & refreshments except* clothing/other item & lunch.

    *Please bring a small 100% natural fibre clothing or other item (must be natural such as cotton, linen, hemp) & your lunch. Wear covered footwear & old clothes/apron/old shirt to protect you.     Bio - Alison Bogg is a textile artist who runs workshops as part of her studio practice - Spring Indigo Textiles Studio in Bingie, NSW. Trained at NIDA (Design 1987), for many years she worked for companies including Melbourne Theatre Company, Opera Australia, Handspan, Australian Dance Theatre, Sydney Olympics 2000, ABC & SBS. Her background encompasses set/costume design, costume technology, textile arts, puppetry, & arts education. Her experience as a costume designer & art-finisher informs & inspires her work, with a focus on experimenting with textile surface design, indigo dyeing & shibori. Workshops are an important facet of her arts practice, kindled by her experience as a creative arts teacher in schools. Exhibitions include Shimmering at Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre & Belconnen Arts Centre, Landmarks EFTAG/River of Art Festival & The Space Between in Moruya, which she curated and coordinated. Alison is a member of the Eurobodalla Fibre & Textile Artists Group (EFTAG), Narooma School of Arts & Craft Australia.
