Event description

Come celebrate World Refugee Week with a Silent Disco fundraiser for The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). This year's theme is 'Finding Freedom'. Together, we can champion refugee's right to seek safety, build support for their economic and social inclusion, and advocate for solutions to their plight.

DJ Mr Motion will lead you on a Silent Disco Walking Tour through the streets of Footscray. You will immerse in uplifting vibrant music and dance to spread joy and awareness for refugees. Together, we will celebrate local people, places, culture, and community. 100% of funds raised by this Silent Disco event will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

During the past 21 years, the ASRC has served over 30,000 asylum seekers and refugees without federal government financing. This fundraiser will support ASRC to continue their incredible work supporting asylum seekers to create better futures for Australia. Come dance, sing, and raise some fun and funds!

Wear comfortable, colourful, cultural clothing and dancing shoes.

DJ Mr Motion brings his infectious enthusiasm, endless inquisitiveness, big-kid heart and a lifelong love of dance to the Guru Dudu team. A Mr Motion tour will take you on a movement safari through role-playing, dancing, singing, creative movement with a pumping playlist. Since joining the Silent Disco team in 2018, Mr Motion has whipped up a disco storm at the Queen Vic markets, Hen’s nights, Council and private events. Mr Motion is the creation of Jonathan Sinatra. Originally from the USA, Jonathan’s family migrated to Melbourne, Australia in the early 1980s. Jonathan has toured Australia the world for over 25 years as a professional contemporary dancer, performance maker and dance teacher.
