    Event description

Presented by social impact crowdfunding platform and innovation agencyΒ StartSomeGood.comΒ this presentation and discussion will demystify social enterprise and explore why doing good can be such good business today.

Social Enterprise is so hot right now!

Just in the last year the world's biggest public investor, BlackRock, announced they would consider social and environmental impact alongside financial performance in their investment decisions and the CEO's of 181 of America's biggest companies, including Apple, Amazon, Cisco, Citigroup, Motorola, Nasdaq and many more, announced that companies must consider stakeholders beyond shareholders.

Unilever have shown that purposeful brands outperform the market and the B Corp movement continues to grow in strength while social enterprise startups in every industry and niche imaginable are launching and succeeding, winning market share fromΒ business-as-usual.

But confusion also reigns. What even is a social enterprise? How can we distinguish them and is this more than just purpose-washing? Can you make a living, and build wealth, while also doing good? What are the wider forces that are driving the rise of social enterprise?

This workshop, led by StartSomeGood's co-founder and CEO Tom Dawkins, a globally-recognised expert on social enterprise and innovation,Β will demystify social enterprise - exploring what they are, why the number is growing so fast and the opportunity that they provide for all entrepreneurs looking to make a difference.

    We willΒ cover:

    1) What is a social enterprise?

    2) How can we tell them apart? What are the different business models, approaches and legal structures?

    3) What's involved in designing and launching a social enterprise?

    4) What's the formula for success we've seen work at StartSomeGood, where we have the highest project success rate in cause crowdfunding.

Over the pastΒ eight years we have worked with startups in IoT, food, from beer to lunch delivery and reviving native superfoods, apps, communities,Β Indigenous-owned streetwear labels and other ethical fashion startups, circular-economy models, buy-one-give-one and much much more.

Come along to find out what's going on in this space and be inspired about what is possible.

We are charging a modest ticket fee just to ensure that only those who plan to come book - the space is limited - and will be donating all funds to Young Change Agents to support their youth social entrepreneurship education programs.
