SpeakEasy Poetry returns with their soft & powerful monthly poetry open mic in the not so secret Season Three Space, located in the upstairs studio at our lovely home of echo & bounce, in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. SpeakEasy Poetry's Open Mic is an intimate imagining of a stage to bare your heart, and a return home to our shared humanity.

Details:

Volume 8 of SpeakEasy Poetry will likely take place in the Season Three Space at echo&bounce. This is most easily accessed by the external stairwell leading from the carpark. Bathrooms are available at bar level as well as a single bathroom upstairs in Season Three. Please reach out for detailed accessibility information.

6pm Arrival - come along early to get comfortable, snag a delicious bowl of Ramen from the venue & register for the open mic

6:30 Event Begins - a warm welcome from hosts Nikita, Rae & Dani then 1st Half of the Open Mic

7:10 - Feature Poet Set - Liam Boue or @leeeeeeham & @altenatorpoetry

7:30 Intermission - you can arrange to have a warm meal from the kitchen ready at the break, avail yourself to refreshments at the bar, or we invite you to engage in writing prompts & colouring in available around the room

8:00 Event Resumes - settle in for the 2nd Half of the Open Mic

9:00/9:30 Event Closes - depending on signups & venue closing times

Parking : The venue unfortunately has no reliable free parking. There are two paid parking complexes next to the venue. They are accessible via Allen Street & Water Street respectively.

Sliding Scale : Complimentary, $10 + bf, $15 +bf or $20+bf

Please secure your ticket in advance (even comp.) as there is limited capacity.

Honour system on ticketing - all money raised by SpeakEasy goes into paying the venue, hosts, technicians & feature poets, so we can all carve out a little living in this difficult time for the arts.

Accessibility:

The Venue is multi-level & unfortunately challenging for accessibility.

Entry to the venue is at street level - Stanley St entry has a small rise, Jacob Lane entry has 4 - 6 stairs. Bathrooms are located down those small stairs. The Season Three Loft Space is accessed by two staircases. The outdoor staircase is concrete, comprises of a total of 28 steps plus a platform ( 12 stairs, then a platform, then 16 stairs) up to the main access doorway, or a 13 step staircase from the Toilets (please ask the bar if you need help accessing either staircase)

The Land:

this event takes place in Meanjin/Magandjin, in a venue co-created on the lands of the Yagera and Turrbal people.
