    Event description

Spectra Jazz Orchestra, a youth ensemble for young women and gender diverse musicians, are launching their debut album: Supernova! Spectra are excited to share this occasion with friends, family and the community at large, at the friendly Petersham Bowling Club, for what will be a fun Sunday afternoon celebration. Spectra will present two sets of exciting music at the PBC, including the pieces from the album.

Spectra Jazz Orchestra is an initiative for young women and gender diverse musicians which builds a bridge between music education on the secondary and tertiary levels, into the professional music world. As the wider jazz community consists predominantly of male musicians, Spectra also empowers and creates a supportive space for its members to grow as musicians. Their new album Supernova is a celebration and sharing of the achievements of the band and features compositions by Australian composers, including one of the band members, Katie Bombardieri.

    Spectra Jazz Orchestra is:

Saxophones – Monika Murn, Katie Bombardieri, Emma Chau, Sam Cheng, Grace Duggan

Trumpets – Lily Olive, Uma Volkmer, Natasha Benham, Abi Marshall

Trombones – Maya Lecuna, Olivia Bryant

Rhythm section – Adrianna Cicchitelli (guitar), Julia Vlahogiannis (piano), Beth Roche (bass) and Nea Forslund (drums)

    Director – Ellen Kirkwood
