STEP NSW Branch invites you to a seminar with Anne Britton, Deputy President of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
Topic: Elder Abuse: Guardianship & Administration - Current Trends and Issues of Concern
The paper will discuss the scope of NCAT’s powers in determining applications which involve allegations of elder abuse. The paper will also examine the obligations of lawyers and other practitioners to the Tribunal and to their client, in cases where allegations of elder abuse have been made.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Anne Britton is a Deputy President of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), heads NCAT’s Guardianship Division and is a member of NCAT’s Appeal Panel. For over two decades Anne has held senior positions in Commonwealth and State tribunals, including as a Senior Member of the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal and a Deputy President of the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal. Anne has had a long-term interest in the professional development of tribunal members and served for many years as chair of the Council of Australasian Tribunals (COAT), the peak body representing tribunals throughout Australia and New Zealand. COAT was established to support the work of administrative and civil tribunals, to provide training for tribunal members and to promote excellence in Tribunal decision-making. Anne chairs NCAT’s Professional Development Committee and the organising committee of NCAT’s biennial conferences.
