Description

Stories & Salsa: A Singles Dating Event for People Who Value Connection

(No dance experience required)

Most modern dating asks you to make a judgement in seconds. A photo. A swipe. A corny line. A few empty messages that go nowhere. But there is far more nuance to a person than a profile can ever capture.

Stories & Salsa is our pushback.

A singles night for people who are tired of surface-level connection.

We combine a beginner-friendly salsa lesson with guided conversation, so you can meet people in a way that feels more human. No forced small talk. Just movement, openness, and a chance to connect properly.

No dance experience needed. Just a little willingness to try something new, and yes, your dancing shoes.

How it works

  • Learn a very simple salsa step. Easy, repeatable, zero pressure.

  • Dance with a partner for a minute or two.

  • Get a question prompt and a few minutes to talk.

  • Rotate. New partner, new rhythm, new question.

  • End with a relaxed social so you can continue any conversations that felt good.

Practical details

  • 16 people only: 8 women and 8 men

  • Doors open at 6pm for a 6:30pm start

  • Wraps up around 8:30pm, followed by a relaxed social

  • Wear something comfortable and easy to move in

  • Refreshments and snacks provided

Important notes

  • This is a heterosexual event for now while we test and refine the format.

  • We’re aiming for a mix of ages, with most attendees in their late 20s to 40s.

  • You’re always free to sit out a rotation or say no to a dance. No explanation needed.

  • Speak to a host at any time if you feel uncomfortable or need support.

  • Snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine will be served

This is for you if…

  • you’re tired of dating apps and want to meet people face-to-face

  • you prefer warmth and substance over small talk

  • you like the idea of a shared activity that breaks the ice

  • you’re open to connection without putting pressure on the outcome

  • you want an evening that feels playful, thoughtful, and human

Consent and Respect

Stories & Salsa is a connection-first singles dating event. We’re here for warmth, respect, and real conversation. This is not a hookup scene, and it’s not a pickup competition.

By attending, you agree to:

  • treat everyone respectfully

  • practise consent at all times

  • help keep the room comfortable for everyone

Anyone making others uncomfortable may be warned or removed. We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove attendees who breach these expectations. No refund.

This night is not about forcing fireworks. It’s about meeting people as they are and seeing if you can move together, talk together, and stay curious together.

Come with openness. Leave with stories, a few unexpected insights, and maybe a spark you didn’t see coming.

FAQs

  • What is Stories&Salsa?

A singles dating event that blends a beginner-friendly salsa lesson with guided partner rotations and conversation prompts. You’ll meet a bunch of people in a relaxed, structured way, without the usual small talk.

  • Do I need dance experience?

No. It’s designed for complete beginners. We keep the steps simple and repeatable

  • Is this a singles dating event?

Yes! this is a singles event (not a general dance social).

  • What’s the age range?

We’re aiming for a broadly similar life stage, with most attendees in their late 20s–40s. It’s not a strict rule, its just our way of keeping the room comfortable

  • What’s the format on the night?

You’ll learn a simple step, try it with a partner, get a question prompt, chat for a few minutes, then rotate to meet the next person. We finish with a relaxed social/dance so you can continue any conversations that felt good.

  • Is it heterosexual / LGBTQIA+?

For this pilot, it’s a heterosexual event while we test and refine the format. We’re open to running other formats once we’ve proven the flow.

  • How do you keep the gender ratio even?

Tickets are capped with equal numbers of men and women. If one side sells out first, the other side goes to waitlist.

  • What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable that you can move in. Shoes that are easy to step in (no need for dance shoes).

  • Can I come alone?

Absolutely! most people will. The structure makes it easy.

  • I’m shy / awkward. Will this be painful?

It’s normal to feel nervous at the start. The lesson + prompts + rotations do the heavy lifting. You’re never left wondering what to do
