Stories Big Enough to Live In - with Dr. Janice, The Story Medic

All Together Now! is the brainchild of Dr. Janice Campbell. To ward off the pervasive sense of impending doom during quarantine, she began reading kids’ books, teaching stories, and fables to her acupuncture patients online. Then she would pull out interesting questions and lead them in a guided meditation to help release anxiety, tension, and any other stuck emotions lodged in their bodies. Some patients began rescheduling work meetings, so as not to miss storytime. It worked!

From that experience grew Once Upon A Moment…, a private podcast in 2025, which is now being re-released FREE weekly, at https://thestorymedic.substack.com/, along with some of her written work.

Now, in 2026, Dr. Janice has created a much more interactive version to be performed live and Humorville has graciously offered to host the premiere!

Fair warning: This is not a show. It’s an experience. Come ready to listen to stories - discuss ideas - do some short storytelling yourself in pairs - and be immersed in a meditation that will allow the entire evening to move through you. Then you’ll be released back out into the wilds of New York, ready and capable of telling stories big enough for us all to live in.

Community, curiosity, creativity, and conscious release – things we all need more of these days.

About Dr. Janice

Dr. Janice is a recovering union stage manager turned seasoned doctor of acupuncture and herbal medicine whose entire life has been woven through with story. From being born a wish in a huge southern family, to a successful theatre career, to private practice, to academia – where she put a 3,000 year old medicine online in record time – to the expansion of her work as The Story Medic, story has always been a part of who she is and what she does in the world.

So, when life went sideways in early 2025, she began asking herself that question from Ray Bradbury’s classic book, Fahrenheit 451: what book am I going to memorize? What is mine to do in the face of what is? The answer came back - reach as many people as possible and reconnect them to their own belonging - then help them carry it with them wherever they go. So, now she does what she calls stealth belonging work, the driving force behind The Story Medic.

Rumi says, “Out beyond ideas of rightdoing and wrongdoing, there’s a field. I’ll meet you there.”

Dr. Janice believes that the road to that field is paved with stories big enough for us all to live in – and she’s going to do her damndest to make sure everyone knows how to get there.
