Event description

🕯️ Theme of the Night: “Celebrating Everyday Joy” 🕯️

What are the stories you hear everyday? Are they from the news, advertisements, social media, Netflix? What is the intention behind them?

As children, we hear stories that are meant to educate us, teach us lessons, and entertain us. As adults, we continue to tell stories, and they shape our ability to dream and learn just as they did when we were kids.

In a world that so often focuses on the darkness, this will be a night of sharing stories of light! ❤️‍🔥 The theme of “Celebrating Everyday Joy” invites you to offer a story of a time you felt that glowing, radiant sun beam of emotion we call happiness. Maybe it came from receiving a gift, adventuring with a newfound friend, or an act of kindness you’ll never forget.

Whatever way you decide to interpret the theme is welcome, the only ask is that you feel that your story will inspire smiles and warmth 🥰 Blankets, bolsters, candles, and incense will be provided to curate a cozy, comfortable nest as we settle in to listen and share 💕

Yoga teacher Rosie Milhem will guide us through a vocal movement practice to help us warm up our voices and bodies at the beginning of the evening 🪷 This will be gentle and accessible to all abilities.

And, as this will be held on the first night of Hanukkah, you are welcome to bring a menorah/candles to light and snacks for a mid-story time nosh break.

What to bring:

  • a story to share*
  • snacks for mid-storytime nosh
  • menorah or any other candles
  • donation (cash or bank transfer accepted)

* not required, but definitely encouraged!

☮️ Event is donation based. All proceeds will be given to the Women Wage Peace non-profit organization. This is a non-partisan, women-led grassroots organization working towards achieving a peace treaty between Israel and Palestine, that guarantees women will be a part of the negotiations as well as the implementation process. 🕊️

We would like to pay respect to and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, the Wurundjeri people, past present and future.
