In the United States, roughly 70 million people have an arrest or conviction record, and more than 600,000 individuals are released from jail each year. That’s 600,000 people who want to rebuild their lives- in which meaningful employment plays an enormous role.

The unemployment rate for justice-involved individuals stands at 27%, higher than the unemployment rate during the Great Depression. In fact, economists estimate that the Gross Domestic Product (G.D.P.) is reduced between $78 billion and $87 billion due to excluding formerly incarcerated job seekers from the workforce.

Society only gains when justice-involved individuals are connected to employment opportunities, from reducing recidivism to the continued development of our human capital.
