Summer Birding @ Randwick - January
Event description
Summer Birding at Randwick Environment Park
Randwick Environment Park is a gem! It’s an island of biodiversity, with its beautiful bushland plants and wetland offering shelter and food for wildlife, including lots of bird species. We will slowly explore the area in the early morning when birds are at their most active, and hopefully we’ll see many different species, from large and noisy birds to tiny, secretive ones; landbirds and waterbirds. We’ll watch their fascinating behaviours and try to learn a few birdcalls, and we might even see some breeding activity.
You will be guided by ecologist Renée Ferster Levy, who has observed over 80 species in Randwick Environment Park (or flying over) in the last 10 years, and is fascinated by how each bird uses the area, and what we can do to help them thrive even outside the Park.
Who is it for?
While this birdwatching walk is aimed at adults, keen kids 8 and over are welcome. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
