Summer Fun(draiser): City Secrets Walking Tour with Peter Maddison
Event description
This tour will be guided by Open House Melbourne’s Ambassador and the original host of Grand Designs Australia, Peter Maddison. It will focus on discovering the city’s contemporary and historic architectural gems and the personalities that have created them.
Peter’s deep knowledge of the built environment will bring an expert lens to this guided walk and shed light on the design elements that contribute to the public life and vibrancy of our city.
Starting at The Evan Walker bridge, the walk will stop at Fed Square, then thread its way to Spring Street towards the Parliamentary Precinct before finishing up at ICI House.
Peter Maddison is an Australian architect and television presenter. He is best known for presenting the TV series Grand Designs Australia, which has been shown in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Maddison is a practising architect, having started work as a student in 1978 with Peter Crone & Associates. He subsequently worked with Morris & Pirotta Architects, Cocks & Carmichael Architects, and was a Partner with McIntyre Partnership Architects & Urban Planners, before founding his own practice Maddison Architects Pty Ltd in 1988. Maddison is a long-standing member of the Australian Institute of Architects’ Small Practice Forum and Awards Taskforce.
Meet on the south side of The Evan Walker Bridge. This walking tour will conclude at ICI House, 1 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne.

- This walking tour includes low to moderate activity covering approximately 2km walking, with some areas of uneven ground are requires a basic level of walking fitness. Covered and comfortable shoes are essential.
