Summer Yoga Retreat: Awaken The Senses
Description
Registration is now closed. Please follow my Instagram account, @sarah.shea.yoga, for more retreats and yoga events I will host! See you next time!
Hi there! I am Sarah Shea, a yoga instructor who grew up in the Lehigh Valley area of PA and who is currently hosting yoga classes in Morristown, NJ. This is my 4th solo retreat, and I would love to have you!
Whether you live in my home state of PA, in my NEW home state of NJ, or anywhere on the northeast coast, this will be the perfect getaway without needing to purchase a plane ticket! (Of course, I am MORE than happy to have you if you happen to need a plane ticket to come, too!).
I offer payment plans on this website, but if you want something more specific, do not hesitate to reach out to me at my email - sarahsheayoga.biz@gmail.com. I want to be sure this is accessible to anyone who feels called to come!
See below for more info on the retreat, and go all the way to the bottom to read more about me and my credentials. My Instagram and other social media links are also down there - it's a good start on getting to know me!

Awaken all of your senses with this invigorating yoga retreat! Remind yourself of the pleasures of living through different tastes, sounds, and smells. Observe the beautiful ocean during sunrise and sunset yoga, and let the soft ocean breeze during our asana practice help your body come alive. Please note: this is a women's only event!
Meditate to the sound of the waves. Flow with the moving of the tides.
WHERE YOU WILL STAY
Enjoy a townhouse right on the waterfront. We are only a 3 minute walk from the boardwalk and beach, so using our cars will be a rarity!
It has three stories, each with it's own balcony to provide front row seats to the ocean.
We'll have three full bathrooms and one half bath, and a fully stocked kitchen can house all of our snacks (yes, there's a Keurig machine, too!).
There is access to a shared outdoor pool, a washer and dryer, and an outdoor shower to wash off our feet from the sand.
We also have central air conditioning, so if you need a break from the heat, just step inside!
This place is truly a hidden paradise just far away enough from noisy boardwalk traffic. It will be perfect for us to relax after a long day of asana, meditation, and adventuring!
EXPERIENCES THAT ARE INCLUDED
SUNSET SOUND BATH
After our first full day, just as the sun begins to set, we will all gather on the beach to have a sound bath led by an instructor from Yoga Centric. We just need to bring our towels! Lying down with a soft sea breeze grazing our skin as the unique sounds of the singing bowls mix with the gentle waves to guide us into total relaxation. What could be better? On the off-chance it rains, we will be able to have the sound bath indoors, but I am hopeful we can have the full beach sound bath experience!
KAYAKING TO ASSATEAGUE ISLAND
The next day, we'll drive to a nearby dock and push off on our kayaks! Our guided trip will take us to Assateague Island, where we will stop at one of the nearby beaches to grab some lunch. Plus, we'll get to do some yoga! If we're really lucky, we may even see some of the beautiful wild horses. Once we have our time in this gorgeous landscape, we will kayak back to the dock. This will be a great way to get our fill of nature, even when the forest is replaced by the beach!
CHARCUTERIE BOARD WORKSHOP
Thursday, we will have a special treat! If you came to my most recent retreat, you met the wonderful Abby Hudock, owner of The Aging Moon. Well, she is coming back, and this time she is showing us her craft! With a variety of cheeses, jams, crackers, and other tasty trinkets in hand, she will help us create customized charcuterie boards. It'll be a behind-the-scenes exclusive as she explains how she creates her incredible grazing tables... how to wrap the tables, where to place each ingredient, what foods pair best together. All of it will be deconstructed for us! The best part - we'll indulge in our beautiful boards and get to take the extras home.
DINNER AT FAGER'S ISLAND
From fine dining to lite fare, you can choose whatever type of food you are craving. This is WALKABLE from our AirBnB, and it sits right on the water! Our reservation is upstairs, so I'm hoping we will have a nice view! This place is not only a restaurant but a hotel, nightclub, and event venue. It comes highly recommended, and I have confirmed there are vegetarian and GF options.
Beyond Fager's Island, the retreat covers an additional group dinner (Thursday) and ALL breakfasts.
SUNRISE & SUNSET YOGA ON THE BEACH
Each day we will all walk down to the beach together and have a yoga session. It will be early enough for us to see the sunrise slowly rising about the water, and we will begin each session with a meditation. Every evening, we will make sure to go down once more, but it will be as the crowds are leaving. Same backdrop as the beginning of the day, except the atmosphere will feel a little different. Imagine taking savasana with the real ocean waves as your soundtrack, rather than a recording!
YOGA STYLES & LEVELS
This retreat is meant for anyone. You do not need years of yoga experience to enjoy yourself here! Conversely, having more experience just means you will be able to experiment more during our asana practices. Nobody will force you into an inversion or an arm balance, but you're more than welcome to take it with my guidance!
Morning yoga will start off with a grounding meditation session to familiarize ourselves with the atmosphere. Then, we will begin a Vinyasa practice filled with various seated, standing, and prone poses. These asanas will have a creative flow into each other, but we will emphasize holds to best understand how certain shapes affect our bodies. We will always end with a calming Savasana with my sound bowl and essential oils.
Evening yoga will be a mix. Depending on how rigorous the day was, we may do a gentle flow to wind us down. A gentle flow is a calming Vinyasa-style, but we will only be executing seated, prone, and supine poses. We will focus on softening and stretching ourselves without too much strength.
Another option is our Yin practice. With Yin, we will stay in seated, prone, or supine poses for upwards of 5-8 minutes at a time. This lets us focus on the connective tissue in our bodies, and it allows for even more of a meditative practice. We will get deep into our fascia.
All yoga classes will be taught with inclusivity and accommodation in mind. If there are modifications to poses, they will always be offered! If someone needs an alternative pose due to injury, one will be provided. We want everyone to feel safe, seen, and connected to their practice!
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
Transportation
The following meals: lunch (daily); dinner on Monday (day of arrival), Tuesday, and Friday (day of departure); breakfast Wednesday
Any extra excursions you want to do on your own
OCMD does not require beach tags, so we will not have to worry about those if you were wondering!
We hope you decide to treat yourself to our yoga retreat this summer! If you have any direct questions, do not hesitate to reach out at sarahsheayoga.biz@gmail.com. We can't wait to see you!
