Description

Join us for SUMMERSONG at the ABBEY, a joyful afternoon of harmony singing in the beautiful Abbey at Sutton Courtenay. Following three previous sold-out events, we’re delighted to return for another uplifting gathering of voices to celebrate summer through song.

This three-hour workshop will be led by Emily Marshall, Elena Harris and Holly Taylor-Zuntz: three local choir leaders with different musical flavours joining forces to share songs they love. Together they’ll create a rich and varied session of harmony singing.

All songs are taught by ear in the Natural Voice tradition, so there’s no need to read music. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or completely new to group singing, everyone is welcome to join this relaxed and inspiring afternoon of shared song.

Leaders:

Emily Marshall is a singing leader and teacher who runs a range of community choirs and vocal groups across Oxfordshire, including Feisty Choir and Eynsham Community Choir. She works with people of all ages and abilities, creating welcoming spaces where anyone can experience the joy of singing in harmony. Emily has led choirs in schools, community centres, care homes and health settings, including work with Age UK and Parkinson’s UK, and has performed in projects such as Orlando Gough’s Breath Project. Her work is rooted in the Natural Voice ethos, celebrating every voice and encouraging people to “celebrate the voice you are born with.

Holly Taylor-Zuntz is a singing leader, voice practitioner and artist who helps create uplifting, inclusive spaces for people to connect through song. Through choirs, workshops and retreats across the UK, Holly shares songs from a range of traditions, alongside gentle, embodied voice practices that support people to relax, open their voices and enjoy the experience of singing in harmony. While she is known for her specialism in Georgian polyphonic singing, rooted in years of study in Georgia, at this workshop she'll be offering feel-good harmony songs that are easy to learn and sing together.

Elena Harris is a singing leader, and nature connection facilitator, who brings together voice, community and the natural world. She leads Feral Voices Community Choir, a nature-based LGBTQ+ inclusive community choir where songs are taught by ear in simple harmony, creating relaxed and inclusive spaces for people of all abilities to sing together. Through her work with choirs, families and outdoor learning programmes, Elena invites people to reconnect with their voices, each other and the natural world through song.
