Supporting people with FASD: practical approaches for professionals (Alice Springs)
Description
Supporting people with FASD: practical approaches for professionals
This interactive workshop provides a structured introduction to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and its implications for assessment, planning and day-to-day support. It is designed for professionals working across health, education, child and family services, out-of-home care, youth justice and disability sectors who want to build confidence in supporting children, young people and adults with FASD.
The session goes beyond basic awareness to focus on how neurodevelopmental differences associated with prenatal alcohol exposure affect behaviour, learning, relationships and daily functioning across the lifespan. Participants will explore how to translate this understanding into practical, FASD-informed plans that are realistic, consistent and responsive to developmental capacity.
Topics include:
Understanding FASD and its functional impact across life stages
Reading and understanding assessments
