Supports after sexual violence: Responses from specialist, hospital and police services in the south-east

South East Community Links and the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault invites community services, ethno-specific organisations and community members to come together during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, to discuss how we can support victim-survivors of sexual violence.

Featuring an insightful selection of guest speakers from:

South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault
SECASA is a specialist sexual assault and family violence service, providing crisis response, therapeutic support and counselling. A SECASA Social Worker will explain how to get support, what happens after a referral for counselling, and client rights/confidentiality.

Victorian Institute Of Forensic Medicine
VIFM doctors and nurses perform medical examinations of sexual assault survivors. A VIFM Nurse will explain what these medical/forensic examinations involve, and when they might happen.

Victoria Police - Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT)
SOCIT’s specialist detectives are trained to respond to and investigate child abuse and sexual crimes, and support victims. A Victoria Police Detective will describe what happens when reporting a sexual assault.

Morning tea and networking with local services included.
