Sustainable Sewing Series
Event description
Have a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Keen to reduce waste and learn practical skills in a friendly, community-focused space?
Join us for a 5-part Sustainable Sewing Series, proudly hosted by St George’s Community Share & Care, delivered by A Single Leaf South West and funded by the Plico Community Fund.
In these monthly hands-on sessions, you’ll learn to confidently use your own sewing machine while creating useful items from secondhand and repurposed materials.
Projects will include things like:
🛍 T-shirt tote bags
👖 Taking up pants
🪡 Japanese mending
🧘♀️ Yoga bolsters
Each session also includes a short sustainability talk, covering topics such as:
What you can recycle for free at St George’s
Local reuse & repair resources
Food waste solutions and more!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Plico and St George's Share & Care Program, the whole course is just $50 per participant.
Requirements:
You need to bring your own sewing machine to each class.
