Event description

EMERGING CONCERT ARTIST SERIES

Exceptional Young Artists Sharing the Joy of Music

The Verbrugghen Virtuosi are an ensemble of musicians from the Sydney Conservatorium. Directed by Associate Professor Goetz Richter AM, the group includes some of the most talented, young string players in Australia today. Their program of music for string orchestra features works of enchantment and sensuous delight.

  • Ottorino Respighi’s enchanting Ancient Airs and Dances.

  • Leoš Janáček’s youthful & romantic Suite for String Orchestra.

  • Gerard Brophy’s Cloud of Unknowing was written in 2014 for the Camerata of St James in Brisbane. One of Australia’s preeminent composers and now a resident of Bowral in the Southern Highlands, Brophy’s spiritual attunement brings a meditative theme to the fore.

Goetz Richter AM is a violinist, teacher and thinker with a dual background in music and philosophy. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, where he coordinates performance studies for violinists.

EMERGING CONCERT ARTIST SERIES

Musicians are storytellers, and music is their language. Join us on the first Wednesday of each month for a memorable musical experience with some of Australia's leading young performers. St Jude's Music Association hosts the concert at the historic & beautiful St Jude's Church, Bowral.  Entry is by donation.

We pay our respect to the Traditional Custodians, their Ancestors who cared for this Country for many thousands of years, and their Elders and descendants who continue to care for the Country. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
