Szymanowski & Strauss : Mythes and Romantic Ardor
Event description
Akiko’s first performance of 2025 marks a long-awaited collaboration with the brilliant pianist Liam Wooding. Together, they present a journey through the poignant and romantic landscapes of 20th-century violin repertoire. The afternoon opens with Subito by Witold Lutosławski, a sparkling prelude of spontaneous energy. Next, they dive into the evocative world of Szymanowski's Myths, where lush harmonies and vivid storytelling intertwine to conjure tales from ancient Greece. The program culminates in the youthful passion and sweeping lyricism of Richard Strauss' Violin Sonata, a masterpiece that bridges late Romantic sensibilities with the promise of a new musical era.
The concert will run without an interval and will be followed by a post-concert refreshment, offering an opportunity to unwind and connect with the performers and fellow audience members.
