Description

As part of ATW’s 50th anniversary celebrations, join researcher and art historian Dr Bree Di Mattina in conversation with ATW Co-CEO/Director Sophie Travers for Tales from The Archive, an exploration of significant works and stories from ATW’s past five decades.

Drawing on Bree's extensive research, Bree and Sophie will delve into the stories and ideas behind some of the significant tapestries made by ATW, and consider what they reveal about the changing landscape of Australian art, craft and textile practice.

Tales from The Archive is made possible with the support of the Gordon Darling Foundation.

Dr Bree Di Mattina is an art historian, writer, curator and researcher based in Brisbane/Meanjin, specialising in textile and fibre art. Her PhD research explored the emergence of textile and fibre art in Australia from the mid-1960s to the early 1990s, with her broader research encompassing Australian art, feminist art and craft. Her current project, Mapping Public Textile Art, explores the intersection of textile and fibre art, architecture and public space, with a focus on increasing the visibility and awareness of publicly accessible textile works.
