FAQs

• Is the farm wheelchair accessible?

  The seed saving and preparation activity will take place in the warehouse which has uneven ground but is shady and step-free. The toilets are all one step up and not wheelchair accessible unless that person can manage one step and navigating a door by themselves.

  There is a step-free toilet a distance away which will require some advanced coordination. Please if you are coming with a wheelchair and require this, do let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate, and address any additional access questions.

• Do I have to bring anything?

  We ask attendees to be suitably dressed for the weather and to bring a water bottle for hydration as well as sunscreen if sunny.

  You are also requested to bring a packed lunch and snacks to share.

  We'll have boxes and bags for tomato pulp to take back to JarSquad HQ but you're welcome to bring your own as well.

  If you'd like to take some seeds back to grow, please bring along a small jar.

• How much should I pay?

  Our foraging walks, farm visits and sessions are offered for free but booking on helps us plan better. We request a donation deposit of £2, especially if you are requesting a ride share as we will be reimbursing drivers for mileage from this collection as well as from funding.

  Deposits can be refunded if you need when you show up.

  We reserve the right to cancel the event if there are fewer than 5 bookings.

• But I can't afford to attend?

  JarSquad offers free tickets as it is important to us that our events are financially accessible for everyone.

  Please pick the "I'll bring a cash donation / I need a free ticket" if that's needed. :)

• I don't know how to make online payments. Can I bring a cash contribution instead?

  Yes, we have an option for a "I'll bring a cash donation" ticket where you bring a cash contribution if you are unable to make online card payments.

• What is solidarity economy?

  We understand 'solidarity economy' to mean actions such as 'mutual aid', or arrangements that prioritize social benefits over financial profits, often involving the active participation of people involved to shape these actions/arrangements.

  We'd love if you'd like to be part of our 'squad' in this more involved way! We warmly welcome chats (whilst chopping!) about what it means to co-create a gift economy, and how we already participate in alternative and diverse economies here in Plymouth.

• I'm driving and I'd like to offer a ride

  That's very kind as we may need just one more driver/car! We encourage carpooling as parking at the farm is limited, and to make travel easier and more sustainable.

  However, to ensure everyone’s safety, we may need to verify that drivers offering rides have valid insurance, a roadworthy vehicle, and, where applicable, the appropriate licenses.

  If you’re offering a lift, please be prepared for a quick check as this helps us keep the group safe and comfortable.
