Tarot Art: Mixed-media with Shady Kimzey

Class Description

Using paper, collage, acrylic paint, drawing, and coloring, we will create our own visual representations of the tarot. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tarot deck for inspiration, or for sharing with others. We will discuss the history of tarot artists and common archetypes seen in iconography. We will look at examples of tarot-inspired art, then we will move into creating our own tarot art. Participants are encouraged to focus on a single card or small group of cards. Great for creatives, expressionists, artists, and those wanting to explore deeper meaning in the tarot through personal archetypes.

About the Artist: Shady Kimzey

Shady Kimzey is an artist, educator, and communications professional from Raleigh, NC. They have an interest in media, pop culture, society, and the future. They have taught zine-making, graphic design, and mixed-media arts classes for all ages at organizations including Artspace, the Carrboro ArtsCenter, the Scrap Exchange, and WonderRoot.
