The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for reunion - a moment to slow down, gather and appreciate the company of others.
Join us at Tea Journal for an intimate evening of Chinese calligraphy, tea and quiet creative practice. Designed for beginners, the workshop introduces the tools and foundational brushstrokes before progressing to simple characters.
Guided by Sydney-based artist Evelyn Chan for this seasonal edition, we will also explore:
Simple multi-character combinations
Arranging characters through spacing, scale and rhythm
Creating a balanced calligraphy composition
Making a small calligraphy scroll as your final take-home piece
Throughout the evening, enjoy tea, conversations and chiffon cake in the calm surroundings of Tea Journal.
No previous calligraphy experience is needed.
Places are limited to 10 participants for a relaxed and intimate setting where everyone can slow down and enjoy the experience.
