This series, broken into four-class sessions that each stand alone, introduces classical art techniques, focusing on drawing, watercolor and gouache painting. Heidi helps teens bring their sketches to life with color, light, and atmosphere, honoring each student’s individual style and personality. This class is a welcoming and fun class atmosphere that turns into a community over the year with many students attending each session in the series or joining in for sessions through the year as they can around sports and other school commitments.
Each class begins with a warm-up to build comfort and technique, followed by a structured project that focuses on a specific concept, such as light and shadow in color or mood. Teens then have time at the end of each session for choice-based prompts to experiment with subjects and styles that interest them.
Supportive group sharing at the end of each class helps students reflect on their progress and fosters a welcoming, creative community.
