-----------------------------------------------------------
Earth Kids is a nature-based learning program for children aged 6-12 years, informed by the Permaculture ethics of Care for the Earth, Care for People, and Fair Share.
Activities are designed to spark curiosity and creativity, improve life skills, and foster a deep respect for the land and all its creatures. They follow the seasons and may include gardening, storytelling, art-making, cubby-building, Indigenous perspectives, fire cooking, flora, fauna and fungi exploration, seasonal observations, games, and more.
More information about the program, including our cancellation and no-show policy, is available in the Parents and Guardians Handbook: https://www.nscf.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/2026_NSCF-Earth-Kids-Parents-and-Guardians-Handbook.pdf
Partial scholarships are available to First Nations people and children whose parents volunteer during the program. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact youthedn@nscf.org.au.

FAQs
- “I am exploring the possibility of homeschooling from next year. Could I come with my child to observe a session?
We offer two single-day trial sessions per term for children aged 6–12. To book, select this option on the Humanitix page. If tickets are sold out, you can join the waitlist, and our Youth Education Coordinator will contact you if a spot becomes available.
- “Do you offer trials for your program?”
We offer two trial spots per term for our Earth Kids Homeschool program (not for the Holiday program), allowing families to experience the program. Trials are available only at the start of the term. We understand that starting together on Day 1 is important for building shared agreements and setting the foundations for the term. Alternatively, before booking, families are welcome to contact our Youth Education Coordinator at youthedn@nscf.org.au with any questions. We’re happy to provide as much information as possible to support your decision.
- “Our family missed the beginning of the term, could I please book my child anyway?”
Unfortunately, you can’t. We will only accept children at the start of the term as attending the first session helps establish the stepping stones for their learning and relationships throughout the program. To make sure your family doesn’t miss out, join our Earth Kids mailing list! We promise no spam, just updates letting you know when bookings open. To express your interest, please email us at youthedn@nscf.org.au.
- “I am interested in enrolling my 5-year-old child. Is it possible?”
At this stage, the Earth Kids Homeschool program accepts children aged 6-12, and occasionally 5-year-olds who come along with an older sibling or close friend and are able to follow instructions easily. If this applies to your child, please get in touch with us at youthedn@nscf.org.au before booking to discuss availability.
