Adventures In The Beer Lab: Taste, Test, Learn

Tune your tastebuds. Test your senses. Learn how your senses really work when it comes to beer tasting.

A practical, interactive beer workshop designed for both industry professionals and curious beer lovers, co-hosted by Briony Liebich and Jono Outred at Rocky Ridge Brewing Burswood in Perth.

This is a hands-on session where we train your palate, break down beer flavour, and put your skills to the test with a quiz and prizes.

We'll be tasting fresh hop beers of the season, West Australian craft beers and beers from quality independent brewers direct from South Australia. You can expect to taste 8 different styles, explore beer ingredients, do some flavour training, and play aroma guessing games. You'll be tasting like a pro in no time!

No experience needed. If you work in the industry or just enjoy good beer, you'll walk away tasting with more confidence.

Presenters: 

Briony Liebich — Flavour Logic, South Australia

Briony is a sensory analyst, Certified Cicerone®, WSET-qualified beer educator and contributor to The Crafty Pint. She runs Flavour Logic, a sensory training, beer education, and consulting business working with breweries, food businesses, and curious beer lovers across Australia. She spent a decade leading the West End Brewery sensory program and judges regularly at national beer, cider, spirits, and olive oil competitions. When she's not working with beer, you'll find her helping her family winery, catching live music, or pottering in her edible garden.

Jono Outred — The Crafty Pint, Western Australia

Jono is a food and beverage writer with eleven years across the craft beer world, from beer blogging and production brewing to everything in between. He brings genuine depth and local knowledge to everything he writes and talks about. Jono also serves as Member Engagement Officer with the Independent Brewers Association, where he champions Australian independent breweries and supports the people behind them. When he's not immersed in beer, Jono is a cricket tragic, tends his farm in Nannup growing his own produce, and enjoys exploring regional WA.
