The Bend in the River

Following and filming friends for nearly fifty-years. THE BEND IN THE RIVER is an exploration of the inexorable flow of aging and the unfinished project of living.

In the late 1970s, a group of young friends set out on a rafting trip, captured by filmmaker Robb Moss in his film Riverdogs. Decades later, Moss returns — first to find them navigating middle age, and later again in their seventies, each carrying the weight of choices made and paths not taken.

The Bend in the River interweaves these three timelines, offering a profound and deeply moving portrait of lives unfolding over time. What emerges is a picture of friendships that endure and evolve, of youthful certainty giving way to reflection, and the ways we make peace with change.

By returning to the same people across decades, Moss captures how a life looks not in a single moment, but in motion. It’s a film about memory, friendship and change, letting time tell the story.
