A Hunt Through The Shelves 🔎

Think you know your way around a bookstore?

We’re taking over Gleebooks in Glebe for an evening of books, clues, wine, snacks and a little friendly competition - featuring author Louisa Carmody (see more about Louisa in the lineup below).

Coming solo is encouraged, when you arrive we’ll get you settled in with a glass of wine and something to snack on before introducing you to your team for the night.

Then, pay attention...

In Conversation with Louisa Carmody

At 6:30PM, we’ll sit down with Louisa and Martin for an in-conversation about her books, writing life, reading and the stories that have shaped her.

But this isn't just an author chat.

Listen closely, because a few clues for the scavenger hunt will be hidden in the conversation. You might want to remember a favourite book she mentions, an unexpected recommendation or a seemingly insignificant detail...

After our chat, the hunt begins!

P.s, even though Louisa is a fantasy author you don’t need to be a fantasy reader! The hunt will take you across genres and around the shelves of Gleebooks, so whether you read romance, fantasy, literary fiction, crime, non-fiction or a little bit of everything, you’ll be able to get involved.

Finding The Books 🕵️‍♀️

You’ll have 45 minutes to explore the shelves of Gleebooks with your team, solving clues, tracking down books and completing challenges along the way.

You might need to track down a book from its opening line, remember something Louisa mentioned during our conversation, find a suspiciously misplaced title or snap photographic evidence of your team completing a challenge.

And you definitely don’t need to be a fantasy reader! The hunt will take you across genres and around the shelves of Gleebooks, so whether you read romance, fantasy, literary fiction, crime, non-fiction or a little bit of everything, you’ll be able to get involved.

Once time is up, you’ll bring your answers and photographic evidence to one of our judges to be checked and scored.

Then we'll crown our winners - with prizes up for grabs, of course.

Once the hunt is over, there’ll be time to purchase Louisa’s books from Gleebooks, have your copy signed and chat a little longer.

And the night doesn’t have to end there.

You’ll already be in the middle of Glebe, surrounded by bars and restaurants, so we’d love to see teams and newly made bookish friends keep the night going together. Grab dinner, find a nearby bar or head somewhere for another drink — we’ll have a few suggestions ready if you need them.

Coming solo? Perfect. 🤝

You absolutely do not need to arrive with a team.

Your team will be allocated when you arrive, and we'll make the introductions and conversation starters, so there's no awkwardness.

In fact, coming solo is very much encouraged. Bound & Co events are designed to make meeting people feel a little easier - and having a scavenger hunt to tackle together gives you something to talk about straight away.

Can't make it right at 6PM? ⌛

No worries!

Doors open at 6PM, but we know getting across Sydney after work doesn't always go to plan. Our conversation with Louisa won't begin until 6:30PM, so if you're running a little late, don't let that stop you from booking. We'll have your team waiting and quietly sneak you in when you arrive.

Louisa Carmody wrote her debut novel, The Shadows that Listen, at nineteen years old and rewrote it at twenty-six while juggling full-time work. When Louisa isn't curled up writing or reading, she's usually spending time in the sun by the water.
