The Bowl's Anatomy
Description
Whether you're into ramen, porridge, matcha or simply need somewhere to put your keys, there's a bowl for that!
Over six weeks, guided by artist Cat Guevara, you'll explore the anatomy of a bowl and learn how to create a collection of 4–6 individual bowls using three fundamental handbuilding techniques: pinch pots, coils and slabs.
We'll experiment with proportions, curves and silhouettes, discovering how to make bowls with wider rims, narrower bases, generous bellies and all sorts of interesting shapes.
Once your little bowl family is formed, we'll bring them to life with underglazes, carving and playful surface decoration.
No previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity, your hands and a healthy appetite for making things out of clay.
By the end of the course, you'll have a unique collection of handmade bowls and a solid introduction to the possibilities of handbuilding.
Come back to collect your pieces between 3-4 weeks. They'll be fully glazed, waterproof and foodsafe.
