有人說香港是移民城市；有人說香港是「借來的時間、借來的地方 」。但近年的時局變遷 ，不但沒有淡化香港人標籤，反而更強化了香港人意識。 正當幾十萬香港人流散各地， 又有大量人口從大陸移入香港之際 ，究竟誰是香港人？ 誰對香港的未來更有發言權？ 如何從語言、文化、歷史、核心價值各方面定義真香港人？ 國際社會又如何區分香港人與中國人 ？本系列將會邀請對談嘉賓為大家一一探討。

第二場: 香港歷史，為誰而寫 ？從《香港不屈》 尋找新的歷史論述

「誰控制過去就控制未來 ，誰控制現在就控制過去 」這段 喬治威爾斯 在小說《1984 》寫下的名句 ，或許可以解釋為何香港歷史一直是 英國殖民者 及中國共產黨之間的激烈戰場， 因為兩者都爭取用他們自己的版本迎合政治 需要。

但無論爭議有多激烈 ，香港歷史是解答 《誰是香港人 ？》的關鍵。 林慕蓮在她的獲獎新書 《香港不屈》 中 提出了新觀點，或許是以香港人角度重新編寫香港歷史的契機。 正當過去五年數以十萬的香港人移居海外， 這是一個特別矚目的題目。 究竟這場歷史論述之戰如何發展？ 香港人會否有機會和能力爭取關鍵角色？ 今次對談會的特別嘉賓林慕蓮將會一一解答 ，並與參加者互動研討。

兩場活動均會同時進行，全長二小時。 第一小時對談將會以英語進行直播； 第二小時則由現場主持以英語及香港話與參加者互動研討。

A Hong Kong history from HKers’ perspective: searching for new historical narrative from “Indelible City”

“HE WHO CONTROLS THE PAST CONTROLS THE FUTURE. HE WHO CONTROLS THE PRESENT CONTROLS THE PAST.” This quote from George Orwell's 1984 explains why the history of Hong Kong is a fierce battleground between the British colonial authorities and the Chinese Communist Party - all trying to impose their own versions to suit their political agenda. 

Yet, despite the controversies, the history of Hong Kong is crucial to the quest for "who are real Hongkongers?".  The fresh approach put forward by Louisa Lim's award winning book, "Indelible City", is perhaps a starting point to reset a historical narrative for this city from Hongkongers' perspective. This is a topic of great interest at a time when the size of the Hong Kong diaspora has swelled by over a quarter of a million in the past five years. How would this battle unfold? Will Hongkongers have the chance and capability to play a central role? Our special guest Louisa Lim will be invited to address these questions and more.....

This is a bilingual session. The first hour of interview will be conducted in English and the second hour of discussion will be in English and Hongkongese.
